ERIN KAYA: Owner/Instructor

A professional teacher and dancer for over 15 years, Erin began dancing at age 3 with the foundation of Ballet. At 5 years old she was selected as one of 10 students to be in a specialized training group. She advanced quickly as an amateur winning numerous local and national competitions also studying several styles, including salsa, hip-hop, belly dance, afro-Cuban, and flamenco.

She discovered and fell in love with ballroom dance in her teens building to eventually represent the Rhythm category for Region 1 in the Ohio Star Ball Super bowl Event two years in a row. As a professional teacher and competitor, Erin has secured pro DVIDA and LaBlast instructor certifications and holds memberships with the ( National Dance Council of America) NDCA and Pro DVIDA., making the finals in local and national pro rising star divisions, She has performed professionally in several shows, including a televised performance at the Boston Commons Tree Lighting ceremony.  Erin has taught youth groups at Phillips Exeter Academy, Governor's Academy, Newburyport High School and Winthrop Elementary School (Ipswich, Ma).

Erin’s skills cover all areas of International styles and American Styles of dance. Erin strives to infuse her passion into every lesson to ensure each student discovers their full inner talent and dances beyond where they ever thought possible. She also continues to dance, update her knowledge, and freshen her skills to offer students the latest industry information and techniques.

 

THEO MARTINEZ: Instructor

Theo MartinezTheo Martinez originally from Nashua NH, began dancing at age 7. He originally started as a self-taught Hip Hop dancer, by copying MTV music videos, Michael Jackson, and the movie ‘Breakin’- dancing on playgrounds, parties, and school dances.  Later as a teen/young adult, he discovered a love for house music and house dance.  He has maintained that love and passion for dance and has turned it into his own business, HTM dance.

Companies Theo has performed and choreographed with are Urbanity, Tribe, B-Side, Triple Threat, Ipswich Moving Company, Theani Salsa, and solo work for himself. Theo has also worked in adult and teen community theater- choreographing productions of ‘Swing’, and ‘Smokey Joe’s Cafe’. He also competes in professional and pro-am ballroom dance events, as well as perform showcase dances.  Most recently he performed at the Boston Contemporary Dance Festival, Boston Salsa Festival, and MAPC/Small Steps of Resilience.  His unique approach of storytelling in his choreography has won many awards, and loved by audiences who have seen his work.

KATHY SPEROUNIS: Instructor

Kathy

Originally from Tennessee, Kathy began clogging at the age of 5, soon after she added ballet, jazz, and tap.  Eventually, she focused on clogging and performed shows with a local group throughout high school.  She began Line Dancing in college and has been doing so for over 25 years.  Fifteen years ago she started teaching at the collegiate level and has taught for Gordon College and North Shore Community College.  Kathy began teaching group classes at Aurora Ballroom Dance Studio in 2018 and is available for private events and groups.
