Wedding Dance Preparation Tips:

Don’t Wait! Start Lessons as soon as possible! Of course, The sooner you can begin learning and dancing the better prepared and more comfortable you will be on your wedding day. If you have unlimited time prior to your wedding and a budget that will allow, you will want to choose to start early.

As your wedding approaches your schedule will most likely become hectic and could interfere with finishing your dance so it is important to keep this in mind when scheduling and allow at least two weeks before your wedding to be finished learning your dance. At Aurora Ballroom we want you to enjoy your experience and get the most out of your lessons.

NO TIME…NO WORRIES ….Certainly, we can accommodate your schedule for dance lessons any way you wish! Even if it means a crash course days before your event.

Lesson Frequency is Key!

Once you begin your dance lessons you will want to try and plan on taking one lesson per week allowing flex time in case you have to skip a week or two. This is the best way to keep progressing in order to remember the material you have learned and improve your ability. In our experience, most couples take a minimum of five lessons to truly begin feeling confident with the dance steps and gaining proficiency.

Try one of our Group Classes. If you have the time, joining one of our group classes will only enhance and improve your partner dancing skills and in the process you will have fun, meet new friends while learning new dance steps.

What do we wear? Do I need special shoes?

Initially, you will want to wear comfortable clothing that you can move in. You don’t need to go out and buy an expensive pair of ballroom shoes to dance in unless you plan on continuing to take dance classes before or after to your wedding dance lessons. Shoes need to have a covered heel and a flexible sole( no flip-flops, clogs or backless shoes). As the wedding date approaches your instructor may suggest you do a trial run in your actual wedding shoes or something similar in order to be prepared and get the feel of them before the big day. Additionally, the bride may wish to wear a skirt that resembles the shape of her gown.

Do we need a song?

No, although many couples come in with a song already picked out, you don’t need to have a song to begin wedding dance preparations. Many couples are not sure what they want to do until they begin and see the dance styles and options. We as professionals will guide! We suggest songs for your first dance and help you choose the perfect one for your needs!

If you can walk, you can dance!
